Mary Rose Cook

Co-founder and managing director

Mary is one of the directors and co-founders at Uscreates where her role involves overseeing the strategic direction and development of the company.

Mary has a PhD in the emergence and practice of co-design for social sustainability. She has spoken at a number of universities, events and conferences worldwide on this topic and has published papers and articles on the role design plays in addressing social challenges.

Mary studied design at Goldsmiths College, where she is now an entrepreneurial fellow in the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship. She is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) and following her degree she was awarded the BDCs ‘New Designer of the Year’ title.

Before founding Uscreates in 2005, Mary worked as a freelance designer for clients such as BT, the Faculty of Education at Cambridge University, and Channel 4.
