Improving migrant workers' health
NHS Mid Essex asked Uscreates to help them understand the health behaviours of migrant worker communities who were not accessing local health services appropriately.
“NHS Mid Essex were extremely happy with the insight provided by Uscreates. The professional and innovative approach was refreshing, and demonstrated a clear understanding of social marketing insight expertise. The final product was excellent, has enabled us to understand the needs of migrant workers, and has assisted us in commissioning services differently: we would use them again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others.”
Graham Seward, NHS Mid-Essex.
To engage with this hard to reach group we used a range of innovative research methods including a Touring Conversation Café which gathered in-depth insights at workplaces, engaging workers in conversation and providing food and drink. These methods helped us consult over 150 migrant workers.
Segmenting this qualitative information revealed four distinct groups described by shared behaviours and barriers. Targeted solutions created at a collaborative design event led to changes in language translation procedures and fed in to social marketing plans.
