Comfort zone challenge inspiration

We have been extremely busy working on behaviour change projects across the country and abroad recently. This has taken the team out of our comfort zone in many ways (new locations, new methods, new clients, new topic areas) but we have not spent much time blogging about it. To kick-start us back into action we thought it would be useful to collate some great examples of ‘comfort zone challenges’ that we have come across on our travels. So here they are:
Hello Sunday Morning
An initiative in Australia that invites people to give up alcohol for 3 months and blog about it. Its fantastic! Read more about it here.
A Day Without Distraction: Lessons Learnt from 12Hrs Forced Focus
An experiment by Cal Newport to work by the rule ‘All work must be done in blocks of at least 30 minutes’ to see if he can improve focus and productivity. See what the author learnt here.
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall: the joy of veg
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall gave up meat for a couple of weeks and concluded that he became a better cook. Read his article here.
An observation from all of these examples is that the changes that people have made are not permanent (lasting a day, a few weeks or a year) but the learning gained from these new experiences continue and impact long beyond the personal challenge.
Please do send us any more examples of challenges like this so we can spread the word and ideas.
