Volunteers to fight lung cancer
28.02.2011
Uscreates worked with NHS Brighton and Hove on the project, called the Community Health Squad, recruiting and training 16 local volunteers to raise awareness of symptoms and prompt people to take action.
The campaign was launched on Saturday 12th February at Brighton’s football stadium. The team of volunteers were out in force, spreading the message that anyone who has had a cough for three weeks or more should go and get it checked out at their pharmacist or GP.
The volunteer group is part of an NHS Brighton and Hove project to increase the early diagnosis of lung cancer, which will help to bring survival rates up.
Ranging from university students to retired engineers, the Community Health Squad will be working on health issues alongside Albion in the Community, Brighton and Hove FC’s charitable arm.
