Bring Your Parent to Work update
Our internal scheme which invites parents into the office for food and constructive conversations continues apace. As Mary Cook mentions in her Point of View post, we have now welcomed an army officer, the Head of Sustainable Economic Development for a local council, and a psychoanalyst to share knowledge and experience.
This last session guided us through the bewildering range of different psychology strands (detailing the difference between a psychotherapist and a psychologist for example) and led to a fascinating discussion of unconsciousness, the mind, person-centred therapy versus Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and how individuals and organisations react to change.
The numerous intriguing parallels between these different fields of work and ours have provided plenty of food for thought, and we hope that seeing what we do and our process has been interesting to our guests.
We are looking forward to meeting more parents (though we may run out soon), including an anthropologist and a Citizens Advice Bureau manager in the coming weeks.
Get in touch if you would like to know more about the model, or if you have any suggestions for its development.
