Trafford Piloting a Wellbeing Hub
21.05.2012
With the Olympics arriving soon, and wellbeing topping agendas, NHS Trafford and the Design Council invited Uscreates and local organisations to pilot the Summer of Wellbeing. The Summer of Wellbeing is an initiative which connects the dots between existing community events and festivals, and wellbeing organisations in Trafford, with the aim of communicating the five ways to wellbeing to communities and encouraging them to take up activities that improve their wellbeing.
Recently, NHS Trafford and Uscreates invited six wellbeing organisations to a workshop to co-design the pilot initiative of the Summer of Wellbeing: a Pop-up Hub to visit two community-led events in Trafford on the 23rd and 24th of June. The events celebrate the Olympic Torch Relay which passes through Trafford that weekend.
The champion organisations who attended the workshop and who will be delivering ‘tasters’ around the five ways to wellbeing at the Pop-up Hub are Trafford Community Leisure Trust, Voluntary and Community Action Trafford, Sure Start, Trafford College, Home Instead, and blueSCI.
The workshop covered the New Economics Foundation evidence behind the five ways to wellbeing, how services of champion organisations link into these, and add value. Finally, organisations packaged up their services into innovative tasters, and acted out how they would work within a mock-up Pop-up Hub, in preparation for the big weekend in June!
