Uscreates closes its doors … AGAIN!

Last year we created a prototype to test out a new working environment for Uscreates. We closed the office doors for two weeks and everyone worked remotely from cafés, sofas, shared workspaces and trains.
After reflecting on the experience we concluded that the experiment had helped us reconsider the way in which we worked (e.g. limited internet access helped us question how much we actually needed to be online; inspiring work environments helped us gain new perspectives and generate creative ideas; harnessing new communication and collaboration apps changed our working systems). So we learned a great deal from the prototype but the key learning was a renewed appreciation of our studio. We understood the value of having a base, an environment that we could make our own, a space to think things through visually on the walls, a space where informal conversations and collaborations happen over a cuppa.
So instead of giving up our studio space, we decided that we would take regular studio holidays, closing the office doors and working in new and different ways at several intervals throughout the year. To further add to our own learning and impact on the world we have decided to donate our office space to a great project.
We will be closing the office doors again for two weeks in February (13-24th), but this time we will give up our office space to an organisation or group of people who want to use it to make something great happen. We would also be interested in doing an office swap with another organisation.
