Uscreates designs research ‘tools’ and ‘probes’ to gather insights into the social issue in question. They are designed specifically to extract thoughts and opinions of the people at the centre of the work.
As part of the Experience Food at Work initiative, a set of probes was designed to find out about employee’s eating habits in the workplace and the reasons behind them. A selection of the probes can be seen on this page.

A set of ‘Imagination Cards’ encouraged employees to adapt the given template to represent typical days, situations and atmospheres within the office.

Disposable cameras with a set of food related questions were distributed to employees at the beginning of the day. Photographic answers to each question, such as ‘Where do you normally eat your lunch?’ provided insights and reasons to their eating habits through their own eyes.

A text-messaging questionnaire allowed us to follow the eating habits of employees over a weeklong period. Test messages were sent before and after lunch to gage patterns of consumption and productivity.
