Experience Food is a yearlong programme bringing together topic specialists to develop interventions to improve UK eating behaviours.
Experience Food is a ‘think’ and ‘do’ programme both researching and carrying out methods of improving eating habits.
Experience Food has three areas of focus; Work, Mental Health and Primary:
Experience Food at Work
We spend 60% of our waking hours and eat a third of our meals and snacks at work, according to the Human Nutrition Research Centre. The workplace has been identified as a key area to impact on eating behaviours.
Uscreates are developing ideas, designs, and interventions that can be introduced into work environments. These will help employees improve eating behaviours and help employers improve the morale, health and productivity of its staff.
Experience Food Mental Health
There is evidence of the direct impact of nutrition on mental health and well-being. Experience Food Mental Health aims to explore and build on this research through the Well-Being to Take-Away initiative.
Uscreates has been working with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, North East London Mental Health NHS Trust and University of East London to develop a healthy food delivery service and interactive tools to address poor nutrition issues related to mental health.
The Well-Being to Take-Away initiative is currently seeking funding to pilot the service within two London mental health Trusts. To download the proposal click here.
Experience Food Primary
Experience Food Primary aims to develop imaginative ways of communicating healthy food and lifestyle messages via primary school children to their parents/guardians.
We are working with stakeholders to produce innovative healthy living promotional materials and educational resources.
More information about all three areas of focus can be found at the Experience Food project blog.
