Uscreates, Independent Photography, healthy living co-ordinators and primary schools in Woolwich have been working together to develop and deliver a Healthy Living Social Marketing Campaign targeting primary school children and their families.
The Neighbourhood Renewal funded initiative has worked with students and teachers across 3 schools in the borough to explore barriers to healthier lifestyles. The project looked at key themes through facilitated workshop sessions in schools and involved wider audiences through Healthy Living LAB events.
The project identified that the students themselves were a key medium to spread healthy living messages and engage families. Not only did they share their learning with their peers and family through the Healthy Living Challenge Booklet, they also became a vehicle for the healthy living messages by wearing t-shits, badges and other merchandise that communicated key points.
The students themselves were involved in the design of the merchandise and events through their ideas, drawings and feedback.
