Creative Partnerships awarded students at schools in London a budget to change something about their school. The primary aim was to empower students to design and improve their learning environments.
Uscreates worked with primary and secondary students and Tower Hamlets Summer University(THSU) to design and manage the change projects.
Outcomes
A new play structure, a social space and a food culture awareness campaign were designed and produced with students.
Underperforming students were engaged and empowered through workshops and consultations.
Students received a GCSE qualification for the work that they were involved in during the project.
“I don’t think I would still be here is we hadn’t done the project. There was nothing to come to school for, but we got a GCSE and we made a social space for us and our friends.”
Year 10 student

A daylong evaluation event showcasing the work produced by students and designers involved in the X Change project was held at Rich Mix Cultural Foundation.
